Residents of the Collet area and even the wider city have had the privilege of becoming part of a training center which is based in the Collet division. While the center has been in existence for some time now, it was not until Wednesday May 31 that the building was officially named. It now bears the name Frank A. Lizama, OBE Training Center  and Belize city Mayor Darrel Bradley and current Collet area representative Hon. Patrick Faber honored Frank Lizama.

Lizama, who served as Collet area representative from 1984-1989 and mayor of Belize City from 1985-1986, said that he was proud that his hard work has gotten him some form of recognition. Lizama was a teacher and even became an entrepreneur to provide for his family. Hon. Faber was very appreciative of Lizama and of the contributions that his hard work has proven. Mayor Bradley shared the same sentiments and said that Lizama greatly contributed to the benefit of the Collet community, government, and the country.

The center serves as an alternative for persons that do not feel cut out for formal academic education. It is the hope of the Deputy Prime Minister that people will understand that there is another option. The center is home to a variety of programs such as barbering and woodwork.
