The Mayor of Yesou, South Korea made his inaugural visit to Belize to meet with Belize City Mayor, His Lordship, Darrel Bradley and fellow councillors. Mayor Ju Cheol Hyeon made it known that the sister cities have been in 15 years of diplomatic relations and to make most of Mayor Hyeon’s first visit, Mayor Bradley held a ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding at the City Hall.

Through the MOU, the cities have committed to working in support of trade, tourism development, technical assistance, municipal governance, economics, and cultural interaction. According to Mayor Bradley, being that both cities are port cities, they both act as hubs for tourists and in this light, Belize City and Yesou can share and learn from each other. Both mayors will continue to yearn for the improvement of life and continue to develop a better form of government for the citizenry. Mayor Hyeon was appreciative of the exchange and recalled the time in 2015 when they were visited in Yesou by the Belize City councillors.

After the official signing of the memorandum, there was an exchange of gifts between the mayors.
