The Hon. Hugo Patt, Minister of Rural Development is on a working tour in the Toledo District.

As part of the tour he is distributing solar light to the villages in the Toledo District that currently don’t have lights access.

The solar light was an initiative from the Ministry of Rural Development and as part of the program, the most remote villages like Graham Creek will received the lights. Other villages that are part of the program are: Medina Bank, Tambran, Golden Stream, Santa Cruz, Santa Elena, Na Luum Ca, Crique Sarco, Conejo, Boom Creek and Punta Negra.

Joining the tour is Southern Senator, Hon. Macario Coy who expressed that he was well pleased with these initiates and will continue to deliver to his communities in the Toledo District which are for long and continued times being neglected by the Area Representatives Hon. Oscar Requena and Hon. Mike Espat.

He said that he was particularly thankful to the Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister of Belize for the love to his people of the south. He added that he was well pleased to inform the nation that the villagers are happy for the devices. During the delivery of the devices he asked the villagers of the communities to take care of these solar lights as they are very useful for students going to school. He also said that he was thankful to the Hon. Deputy PM, Hon. Patrick Faber, for making it a commitment and delivering to the people of the south. The receivers of these devices included elders of the village, school, students and teachers.
