The second game in the best of three championship series in the Pepsi National Elite Basketball League championship was played on Thursday 25th May, 2017, at the University of Belize gymnasium in Belmopan where the host team the Belmopan Bandits defeated the league’s leading and favourites to win this year’s championship the San Pedro Tiger Sharks by the score of 81-73 to tie the series at 1-1 game apiece.

In the first quarter of the game, none of the team dominated the action and at the close of the first quarter, the Belmopan Bandits had a slim 20-19 lead.

The Belmopan Bandits in the second quarter of the game started to dominate the game and was able to build on a 28-22 lead. The visiting San Pedro Tiger Sharks finally came to life in the closing minutes of the first half of the game when it was able to take a 34-31 lead into the break.

In the final quarter of the game, the Belmopan Bandits opened up an 11 point lead over the San Pedro Tiger Sharks which they were able to protect in the end for the 81-73 victory.

The top scorers for the Belmopan Bandits were Devin Daly with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists; Farron Louriano who scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals; Greg Rudon contributed 14  points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists and Edgar Mitchell who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

For the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, the top scorers were George Williams who scored 21 points; Douglas Valley with 13 points, and 11 rebounds; Kurt Burgess who scored 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals and Jamal Kelly who came off the bench to score 11 points, 6 assists and 2 steals.

The third and final game will be played on Saturday June 3, 2017, at 9:00 pm at the San Pedro High School Auditorium in San Pedro Town.
