Mayor Earl Trapp and the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council continue to work on a major drainage project in flood prone areas in Santa Elena Town in the Cayo District. Some eight masons have been committed to the project to take the drain from the concrete bottom to the street level, near the Santa Elena Sporting Complex. But the challenge has been in getting the muck out of the drain and this has slowed down the work at a time when the rainy season is now upon us.

“I am sure that after this drain [is completed] it will work perfectly and the people now will be able to sleep in peace enjoying the rain drops on their roof and not worrying about water coming into their bedroom,” says Mayor Earl Trapp Junior.

Mayor Trapp  is hoping to get one more week of dry period to take the massive drainage work to its completion. Funds for this work are coming from the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council’s own tax base.

“This can only be done through your support. Your tax dollars working for you!”, states a notice from the Twin Town Council.
