St. Joseph RC School girls and St. Ignatius School boys to represent the Belize District in National Primary Schools Basketball championship Print E-mail

The Belize District Primary Schools Basketball competition came to an end on Tuesday 13th June, 2017.

In the girls’ championship game, St. Joseph RC School defeated St. John’s Primary School by the score of 34-23 to capture its first ever Belize District Basketball title in the girls’ competition. The top scorer for St. Joseph RC School was Briah Clarke with 22 points while Kelis Turton top scored for St. John’s Primary School with 21 points.

In the boys’ championship game, St. Ignatius School defeated Belize Elementary School by the score of 38-29. The top scorer for St. Ignatius School was Kyle Castillo with 17 points and the top score for Belize Elementary School was Jahzani Lightburn with 9 points.

In the first game of the championship, which was in the girls’ competition, St. John’s Primary School defeated Burrell Boom Methodist School by the score of 23-0. The top scorer for St. John’s Primary School was Kelis Turton with 10 points.

In the second game in the girls’ competition, St. Joseph RC School defeated San Pedro RC School by the score of 32-3. The top scorer for St. Joseph RC School was Briah Clarke with 15 points while the top scorer for San Pedro RC School was Brittany Palacio with 2 points.

In the first game of the boys’ championship, St. Ignatius School defeated Holy Cross Anglican School from San Pedro by the score of 30-11. The top scorer for St. Ignatius School was Jamal Myette with 8 points while the top scorer for Holy Cross Anglican School was Jonathan Miranda with 10 points.

And in the final game of the first round of the championship, Belize Elementary School defeated Burrell Boom Methodist School by the score of36-14. The top scorer for Belize Elementary School was Eric Williams with 24 points while the top scorer for Burrell Boom Methodist School was Alexis Chacon with 9 points.

St. Joseph RC School girls and St. Ignatius School boys will represent the Belize District at the National Primary Schools Basketball Championship scheduled for Thursday 15th June, 2017, at the SJC Gymnasium.
