In May 2016, the Spoonaz Photo Café & Bar was burglarized and the culprit was caught on a surveillance camera. After more than a year, the police have indentified the burglar as 39-year-old Derrick Garbutt, an unemployed resident of Ladyille.

In court, Garbutt pleaded guilty but not before claiming that he was drunk when he committed the burglary. Given that he has already spent a year in prison, he was only sentenced to seven years in prison by Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith on June 20, 2017.

The crime was committed sometime between May 30 and 31, 2016. Garbutt managed to pry open a back door with a metal pipe. While inside, he stole an assortment of liquors and a pellet gun.
