The National Primary Schools Basketball championship came to an end of Thursday 15th June, 2017, at the St. John’s College Gymnasium in Belize City.

In the boys’ championship game, Holy Family RC School from Hopkins Village, representing the Stann Creek District edged out St. Andrews Anglican School from Santa Elena, representing the Cayo District by the score of 29-28 to capture yet another primary schools basketball title. The top scorer for Holy Family RC School was Aaron Nasario with 18 points while the top scorer for St. Andrews Anglican School was Kelvin Garnett with 14 points.

In the third place game played, St. Ignatius Primary School representing the Belize District defeated La Inmaculada RC School representing the Orange Walk District by the score of 36-21 to take the third place trophy. The top scorer for St. Ignatius Primary School was Kyle Castillo with 10 points while the top scorer for La Inmaculada RC School was Isaiah Pascual with 8 points.

In the first game of the semi-final round, Holy Family RC School advanced to the championship round when it edged out St. Ignatius Primary School by the score of 33-32. The top scorer for Holy Family RC School was Aaron Nasario with 12 points while the top scorer for St. Ignatius Primary School was Kyle Castillo with 11 points.

In game two, St. Andrews Anglican School defeated La Inmaculada RC School by the score of 32-29. The top scorers for St. Andrews Anglican School were Jevar Gentle and Zoren Deucaninck with 8 points each while the top scorer for La Inmaculada RC School was Nyiel Rampassard with 13 points.

In game one of the first round of the championship, St. Andrews Anglican School defeated Punta Gorda Methodist School representing the Toledo District by the score of 37-13. The top scorer for St. Andrews Anglican School was Kelvin Garnett with 16 points and top scorer for PG Methodist School was Lazaro Barrientos with 7 points.

In the second game of the regular round, St. Ignatius Primary School won handily over Libertad Methodist School representing the Corozal District by the score of 53-3. The top scorer for St. Ignatius Primary School was Kevin Peters with 10 points and the top scorer for Libertad Methodist School was Jesey Leslie with 3 points.

In game three, Holy Family RC School defeated PG Methodist School by the score of 28-13. The top scorer for Holy Family RC School was Aaron Nasario with 10 points while the top scorer for PG Methodist School was Alberto Cas with 6 points.

In game four, St. Ignatius Primary School defeated La Inmaculada RC School by the score of 35-26. The top scorer for St. Ignatius Primary School was Jamal Myvette with 12 points and the top scorer for La Inmaculada RC School was Isaiah Pasqual with 11 points.

In the game five, St. Andrew’s Anglican School defeated Holy Family RC School by the score of 33-29. The top scorer for St. Andrews Anglican School was Kelvin Garnett with 10 points while the top scorer for Holy Family RC School was Aaron Nasario with 14 points.

And in the final game of the first round of the competition, La Inmaculada RC School defeated Libertad Methodist School by the score of 41-6. The top scorer for La Inmaculada RC School was Fornando Muckay with 12 points and the top scorer for Libertad Methodist School was Jesey Leslie with 5 points.

At the end of the championship, Aaron Nasario of Holy Family RC School of Hopkins Village was named the Most Valuable Player.
