Independence United maintains lead in Stann Creek Softball competition Print E-mail

The 2017 Stann Creek Softball competition continued on Sunday 18th June, out in Sittee River with two more games on the schedule.

In the first game played, Independence United behind the steady pitching of Shalini Zabaneh continued its mastery of the competition when it blasted Seine Bight Flames by the score of 17-2. The winning pitcher was Shalini Zabaneh who gave up the 2 runs on 1 hit, she walked a batter in the process while striking out 3. The losing pitcher was Delvoreen Garacis who gave up 17 runs on 9 hits, she also walked 8 batters and struck out 4 in taking the loss.

In the second game of the day, Silk Grass Royale Girls defeated the Sittee River Lucky Stars by the score of 17-1. The winning pitcher was Sandy Depaz who gave up 5 hits, walked 2 batters while striking out 3 in leading her team to the win. Meanwhile, the loss was charged to Pinki Andrews who gave up 15 hits, walked 3 batters while striking out a single batter.

The competition will enter its second round on Sunday 25th June with two more games on the schedule at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village. In the first game, Silk Grass Royale Girls will see actions against the Seine Bight Flames and in game two, Hopkins Beach Girls will go up against the undefeated Independence United.
