Acting upon information received of a drowning in Santa Elena Village, Toledo District, on June 19, 2017, police visited the village. Upon arrival, they observed the body of 85-year-old Anuncion Choc, farmer of Santa Elena Village, Toledo District about half mile off the right hand side of the main road in the village by the riverside.

Investigation reveals that about 12:00 p.m. on the same day, Choc went to take a bath at the river which is located about 200 yards from his home. When he didn’t return, his granddaughter went to look for him but only found his clothes and soap near the river bank. A search was conducted in the area and about 250 yards from where his clothing was discovered, Choc’s body was discovered.  His body was retrieved from the river and transported to the Punta Gorda Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
