In the first quarter of 2016 work commenced on the construction of three roundabouts in the City of Belmopan; one is located at the Guanacaste National Park, the other at the intersection of the Hummingbird highway and Forest Drive and the third is near to the Belmopan Hospital.

All of these roundabouts came under the Road Safety Project and two of those have been complete. The roundabout at the Guanacaste National Park prominently features a flag at the center with the names of all the districts in the circumference. It also has water jets in the center which at night is illuminated with multi-colored lights. It is quite a sight to behold and a true indication of the progress that the capital city has undergone in the past few years.

Now the roundabout at Forest drive, which is the one that was still outstanding is nearing completion. the final touches are being put on the roundabout. According to Mayor of Belmopan City, Khalid Belisle, the roundabout is being adopted by Quality Poultry which has sponsored the construction of a four faced clock along with lighting and landscaping. They will also be responsible for the year-round maintenance of the roundabout. Belisle says he is grateful for the sponsorship and adds that the roundabout helps in adding beautification to the capital city.
