Police have arrested Cecil Gill in Belize City who they believe stabbed and killed 31 year-old Phillip Michael Samuels.

Police investigations have revealed that on Monday, July 17, 2017, at around 8:20 p.m., Samuels was socializing with his friend, at the Southside Villas Apartment. Samuels and his friend had a disagreement, and this man pulled a knife, and stabbed him in the left side of the chest.

He was rushed to the KHMH for emergency treatment, but about 2 hours later, he succumbed to that injury.

It is not clear why two good friends ended up in this deadly fight. A tenant at the apartment told the press, however, that the two were having a few drinks. Referring to the knife wielder, the tenant said, “When he drinks [alcohol], I don’t think he thinks before he does things.”

The disagreement between the two appears to be a prior incident when Samuel’s attacker allegedly punched a woman, knocking her unconscious. Indications are that this woman allegedly insulted the assailant’s wife.  Samuels then reportedly confronted him about hitting the woman, which he did not think appropriate, and that escalated very quickly. That’s when the knife was pulled, and Samuels was stabbed in the chest.

The assailant, identified as Cecil Gill has been detained by police pending charges. Gill has allegedly been investigated for this type of behavior before. He has been charged with attempted murder for another stabbing, in which the victim was also injured in the chest.

As for Samuels, he ended up in the news in March of 2015 because police shot him in the foot while chasing him down. He was charged with firearms offenses after he was allegedly caught with a gun reported stolen. The cops said that he allegedly shot at someone, and quick response led officers to find him in a nearby location.

He leaves behind 4 children.
