COURTS is continuing its “Dare to Dream” Scholarship Program. A ceremony was held on July 19, 2017 at the Harry Lawrence Conference Center at the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Belize City. A total of 8 students received scholarships. According to Grisel Carballo, Marketing Officer, they were chosen based primarily on their financial need and then their performance level. The students were awarded four-year scholarships in what COURTS says is their corporate responsibility.

Many of the recipients were valedictorians and other top performers in their primary schools. The students are from several districts over the country and will be attending a host of different high schools. As part of the program, COURTS will provide an 80% coverage toward school fees, books, and tuition.

One of the recipients is a patient who has been battling cancer for the past 3 years and is currently in remission. He had some inspirational words at the ceremony. He hopes to become a doctor in order to help children in need, children like himself.

So far, 40 children have or are reaping the benefits of the program as such.
