“Partners in Sustainable Development”, a panel discussion, was held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the context of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Belize as an IDB member. The discussion came about as collaboration between the Inter-American Development Bank and the Government of Belize. The discussion sought to promote what they called a “high-level” discussion on the challenges and outlooks for sustainable development and growth as in accordance with Horizon 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2016-2020.

The panel consisted of women and men from both private and public sectors all with the objective to attain sustainability. Those persons included Natalie Goff, General Manager, Development Finance Corporation Representative, Kay Menzies, Co-Chair, Economic Development Council, Carolyn Trench-Sandiford, President, Belize/Caribbean Association of Planners, Dr. Elma Kay, U.B. Environmental Research Institute, Yashin Dujon, CEO, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Dr. Lennox Gladden, Policy Coordinator, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, Sustainable Development, and Immigration.

Also playing vital roles in the discussion were IDB Executive Vice President, Julie T. Katzman, IDB Country Representative, Cassandra Rogers, Ambassador Yvonne Hyde, CEO, MEDPITC, Yvette Alvarez, Senior Adviser, MFNR, and Annette Killmer, Operations Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Sector, IDB.

The discussion took place from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and was followed by a cocktail.
