Aaron Flowers, tour guide, gets 3 months in prison for marijuana he claims he was using to relax. He appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser on Friday, July 28, 2017 where he pleaded guilty to possession of 6.6 grams of cannabis which he was seen trying to dispose of when he noticed police.

That incident is said to have taken place on May 6, 2015 when the attention of PC Itza and another police officer was drawn to Flowers. He was standing on the side of the street when they approached him. It was at this time that he was seen throwing something o the ground. A search for illegal drugs and firearm was conducted on Flowers. The search led to nothing incriminating being found until PC Itza took Flowers to the area where he was seen disposing of something. That led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be cannabis.

Flowers was already serving a 6 months sentence for another drug related offense when he was served the additional 3 month custodial sentence. In mitigation, Flowers told the magistrate that he knows that it is illegal but that he was only using it to ease his mind. He was told that that was no excuse for being in possession of an illegal substance.
