A family near Spanish Lookout is still trying to come to terms with the loss of their youngest child. A fourteen month old toddler was crushed by an SUV at about 4:00 pm on the Iguana Creek Road in Spanish Lookout last Thursday.

Stephen Hochstetler had arrived in his vehicle from Spanish Lookout to unload electrical and other building supplies. Upon finishing, Hochstetler not seeing anyone around his vehicle, decided to reverse and upon doing so heard a bang behind his vehicle. He then came out of the vehicle and discovered to his horror that his daughter Hannah Grace Hochstetler had been hit. Hochstetler then pulled her from under the vehicle and found out that she was not breathing and was unconscious.

Stephen Hochstetler tried CPR and got her breathing again, but then it stopped before the ambulance came. The toddler was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where it was confirmed that she died from her injuries.

A postmortem conducted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital on Hannah Hochstetler reveals that she died from massive head injuries.  A notice of intended prosecution has been served on Mr. Hochstetler, the file is being compiled and will be forwarded to the director of public prosecution where further directives are being awaited.

Stephen Hochstetler Senior had just moved from Stann Creek with his wife and three kids to a trailer home on the Iguana Creek Road about six months ago. He worked as a job site supervisor at various areas near Spanish Lookout.
