A Consultant for James Brodie & Company Ltd. was granted Supreme Court bail for the offense of sexual assault allegedly committed against a 15-year-old girl from Western Belize. Fredy Espinosa, 32-years-old, appeared before Supreme Court judge Denis S. Hanomansingh for his bail application on August 3, 2017 where he was represented by attorney Anthony Sylvester.

The incident occurred on July 24, 2017 in Belmopan. He was arrested and charged on July 25, 2017 in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on a single charge of sexual assault.

There was no objection by the DPP to bail being granted but they did request that bail be set high given that there is nothing tying Espinosa to Belize. Bail was granted in the sum of $15,000 plus one surety of the same amount. One condition was that James Brodie and Co. undertakes putting down the initial sum of $15,000. Espinosa was also ordered to attend each adjournment until the conclusion. He was also ordered to stay away from any prosecution witness.

His next court date is October 25, 2017.
