Dennis Wagner, a 49-year-old homeless man often seen in downtown Belize City, was taken to court on August 4, 2017 on a single charge of possession of a pipe used for the purpose of smoking drugs.

In court where he was unrepresented, he pleaded guilty to the offense. In mitigation, the court was asked to impose a fine but given his long history of 10 previous pipe and drug convictions, Magistrate Aretha Ford refrained from imposing a non-custodial sentence. Wagner was sentenced to 7 months in prison effective August 4.

His sentence was set to run concurrently with any other pending conviction
