Crevaun Cardenas, an 18-year-old from Orange Walk, has found himself at the Belize Central Prison after he was charged with two criminal offenses of kept a firearm and ammunition without a gun license. He was arraigned before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza where he was read two criminal charges, one count of aggravated assault with a firearm upon Bernard Wade and one count of escaping from lawful custody. Bernard Wade alleges that on June 30, 2017 while in Belize City, Cardenas assaulted him with a firearm. It is further alleged that on July 1, 2017, he escaped from lawful custody of PC Emmanuel Aranda while he was under arrest for the offense of kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunition.

Since the incident is alleged to have occurred with the use of a firearm, Cardenas was denied bail and he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until September 25, 2017.

Cardenas has been in Belize City police custody since August 9, 2017.
