The Digicell Senior Female Softball Team, moved a step closer in regaining the prestigious Belize City Senior Female softball title, that it lost four years ago when it defeated Beacon, in an extra inning game by the score of 13-12 to take game one in the best of three series, which was played on Friday 11th August, 2017, at Rogers Stadium.

The lead in the game changed hands many times before Digicell was able to pull out the stops to secure its first win in the championship series.

The winning pitcher was Mary Flowers and the losing pitcher was Hortence Thurton.

As we hit the streets early Thursday morning, the Belize City Softball Association would have crowned a new champion or Beacon finding the will to win may have forced a third and final game that is scheduled for Friday 18th August, 2017.

Both Digicell and Beacon will represent the Belize City Softball Association in the 28th National Women’s Championship scheduled for late August at Rogers Stadium.
