The Premier League of Belize 2017-2018 Opening Season commence on Saturday 12th August, 2017, with two games on the schedule.

On Saturday 12th August, 2017, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the defending National Football champions of Belize, the Belmopan Bandits opened its defence on the right footing when it blanked the San Pedro Pirates FC by the score of 2-0.

The first goal of the game was scored by Jerome James in the 6th minute of play while the 2nd and final goal of the game was scored by Elroy Smith in the 90th minute of play to give the defending champions the win.

While at the MCC Grounds, the Belize Defence Force FC edged out the visiting Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 2-1.

The 1st goal of the game was an own goal that was scored by Ricky Ricketts in the 45th minute of play that gave the Placencia Assassins a 1-0 lead.

The Belize Defence Force FC finally made it onto the scoreboard when Jarren Lambey scored the 1st of 2 goals in the 59th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. Lambey then scored his final goal of the game in the 90th minute of play to give his team the 2-1 victory.

The competition then continued on Sunday 13th August, out at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, where the host team Verdes FC blanked Wagiya FC by the score of 1-0.

Elroy Kuylen scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute of play to give his team the win.

And in the final game of the week that was played out at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the visiting Freedom Fighters defeated the Police United FC by the score of 3-1.

The Police United FC made it onto the scoreboard first when Harrison Roches scored the 1st goal of the game in the 41st minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. However, the lead was short-lived, as the Freedom Fighters came roaring back with a goal of its own when Ralph Flores scored the 1st of 2 goals in the 49th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. Flores scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 71st minute of play to untie the score at 2-1, while the final goal was scored by Rajiv Mangar scoring his goal in the 91st minute of pay for the 3-1 victory.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games on the schedule.
