Mayan Man Warriors win back to back games in firms’ competition Print E-mail

The Belize District Basketball Association 2017 Firms’ Competition continued over the last weekend with a number of games on the schedule.

On Thursday 10th August, in the first game played, Belize Bank Bulldogs defeated Grace Kings by the score of 74-46.

The top scorers for Belize Bank Bulldogs were Roscoe Rhys with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal; Dominique Guzman with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals and Akeem Richardson with 10 points, 6 rebounds and a steal. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Grace Kings were Alex Gordon with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals and Wayne Garbutt with 8 points, 8 rebounds and a steal.

In the second game of the evening, Mayan Man Warriors defeated BTL by the score of 89-74. The top scorers for Mayan Man Warriors were Winston Pratt with 32 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals and Ryheem Thurton with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal. For BTL, the top scorers were Jason Vasquez with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals and Lennox Bowman with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The competition then continued on Friday 11th August, 2017, with two more games at Swift Hall. In the first game of the evening, Mayan Man Warriors picked up its second win in as many outings when it defeated INFOTEL/MARS by the score of 75-73.

The top scorers for Mayan Man Warriors were Marvin Skeet with 20 points and 2 rebounds, Raymond Gongora who scored 15 points to go along with his 17 rebounds and an assist, Winston Pratt and William Black who scored 11 points each towards the win. For INFOTEL/MARS, the top scorers were Earl Johnson with 22 points, 11 rebounds and a steal and Elvis Olivera with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

In game two, Dragons won handily over Grace Kings by the score of 94-45. The top scorers for Dragons were Eyan Rene with 16 points, Denford Bevans who contributed 13 points and Devon Defour who also contributed 13 points towards the win.

On Saturday 12th August, 2017, in the first game played at the Swift Hall in Belize City, the Belize Bank Bulldogs edged out the Kings by the score of 65-62. The top scorers for Belize Bank Bulldogs were Rodrick Williams with 21 points, 5 rebounds and a steal and Roscoe Rhys with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. For The Kings, the top scorers were, Farron Louriano with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Leon Williams with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

And in the final game of the evening, Central Health won handily over BTL by the score of 76-58.

The top scorers for Central Health were Neil Nicholson with 26 points, Faisal Ahmad with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Steven Wade with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. For BTL, the top scorers were Herman Ramos with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals and Lennox Bowman with 8 points.

The competition will continue on Thursday 17th August at 7:00 pm with two more games on the schedule. In game one, Central Health will go up against The Kings and in the night cap it will be Infotel/Mars against Tuff e Nuff.
