After months of PUP concocted rumors that the UDP has a difficult time to get candidates in Orange Walk to represent in the upcoming elections in March, the bombshell was dropped on the PUP. On Thursday the 31st August, 2017, the Orange Walk Executive Committee introduced to the media, the candidates who will represent the United Democratic Party in Orange Walk. At a press conference the candidates made a brief introduction and fielded questions from the media. The dynamic team all of whom are of impeccable character were remarkably well composed and handled themselves admirably. The Mayoral Candidate, Mr. Phillip De La Fuente, who has been a past Mayor of Orange Walk has said that he decided to run for mayor  because as he put it he “is dismayed at the way the Town is being run” and promised to change this for the better.

“Fixing streets, cleaning drains and cutting grass is the job of the Town Council, it’s what you are expected to do. This team will think outside the box..,” remarked De La Fuente. The team includes councilor candidates Yara Cal Villeda, Derik Sambula, Armando Usher, Evan Williams, Jose Cocom and Ajasha Cantun.

On Friday September 1 the candidates were presented to the Orange Walk Town electorate at a well-attended rally in front of the Banquitas House of Culture. The event featured speeches from the candidates, Alberto August, Hon. Elodio Aragon, Hon. Patrick Faber and the Right Hon. Dean Barrow. All the attendees were from Orange Walk Town unlike the crowd that was bussed in from the villages for the PUP’s convention.

It is of note that the Mayor of Orange Walk Town is now running around like a headless chicken, frightened out of his wits at the prospect of having to face Mr. Philip De La Fuente in the March Elections. He now realizes that his free pass has been revoked. The Dynamic team that has decided to represent the United Democratic Party will certainly deliver a victory come March 2018.
