“It is our dream that in the future Santa Elena will have its own full-fledged hospital capable of addressing {to applause} all our health needs.”- Hon. Rene Montero

Minister of Health, Hon. Pablo Marin was happy to share in the celebration with his cabinet colleague, Hon. Rene Montero, in the official inauguration of the Santa Elena Health Center last Friday morning. Health services are now being accessed today at the Center.

The Government of Belize has funded the rehabilitation of the Santa Elena Health Center Project at an estimated cost of $270,000.00.  With a one-storey concrete building, the residents of Santa Elena have begun to get the services at the Out Patient Services, Child Care Clinic and Pharmacy. It will be opened from Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m

“A healthy and productive society, to quote the old adage, a healthy nation is a productive nation, today’s inauguration speaks of making basic health care available to the local level, ensuring the citizens of Santa Elena the poor and the needy, the elderly, the mothers, infants and children have access to primary health care within our community, at little or no cost at all, in other words free”, said the Hon. Rene Montero, Representative for the Cayo Central Division.

With the opening of a Health Center in Santa Elena, healthcare is more accessible to residents who traditionally have had to travel by vehicle to the San Ignacio Community Hospital on the Bullet Tree Road.
