Shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, the lifeless body of an unidentified male was retrieved from the waters of the Macal River near the New Bridge. According to police, it appears to be a case of homicide as the body was seen with what appears to be stab wounds to the upper body as well as hand.

The body is of a dark complexion and remains unknown as a missing person’s report has not been filed in San Ignacio as yet. The body of John Doe, which was dressed in only black trousers, was found in a state of decomposition. A post mortem examination certified that the person bled to death. Police have revealed that the person had a tatoo of a rosary on the chest as well as the name Diane encircled with thirteen stars on one of the shoulders.
