On September 10, 2017 around 4:35 p.m., police responded to a chopping incident at Mile 25 on the Hummingbird Highway where 49-year-old Ricardo Oh reported that he was chopped by 32-year-old Florentino Coc who was several feet away under a shed.

When he was approached by the police, Coc picked up a machete and advanced toward the police in a threatening manner. Despite being cautioned and despite two warning shots being fired, he did not relent. It was not until he was shot in the right leg that he stopped.

He was arrested and taken to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment. Oh was also taken to the SRH where his injuries were classified as wounding. Police investigation into this matter continues.
