A warehouse clerk employed with James Brodie’s Ltd. was busted over the holidays in possession of a firearm. The 32-year-old man, Darren Dawson, was arraigned before Magistrate Aretha Ford on a charge of kept firearm and kept ammunitions without a gun license on September 12, 2017.

In court, Dawson pleaded not guilty to both charges but due to the nature of the offenses, bail could not be granted and he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until November 27, 2017.

Dawson was detained on Saturday, September 9, 2017 on North Creek Road. Police officers were conducting mobile patrols in the area when they stopped a Brown Mazda car driven by Dawson. He was ordered out of the vehicle and a search was conducted on him which led to the discovery of the firearm inside his clothing.

The firearm was cleared by the police officer where he found 2 live rounds of ammunition. As a result, Dawson was arrested and escorted to the police station where he was charged with two criminal offenses, kept unlicensed firearm and kept unlicensed ammunitions.
