Verdes FC whitewashed San Pedro Pirates FC in Premier League competition Print E-mail

The Premier League of Belize Opening Season competition continued on Sunday September 24, 2017, with four games on the schedule.

At the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, Verdes FC blanked the visiting San Pedro Pirates FC by the score of 1-0.

The only goal of the game was scored by Denmark Casey in the 68th minute of play to give his team the victory.

At the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, the defending champions and the current leaders of the Opening Season competition Bandits Sports edged out the host team Wagiya by the score of 2-1.

The visiting Bandits Sports was the first onto the scoreboard when Jerome James scored the 1st goal of the game in the 38th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. However, the lead was short lived when Krisean Lopez scored the equalising goal in the 45th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1 for the host team Wagiya.

In the second half of the game, Bandits Sports untied the score when Gorgie Welcome scored his team 2nd goal of the game in the 64th minute of play to give his team a 2-1 lead and the win.

Meanwhile, out at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda Town, the Belize Defence Force FC blanked the Freedom Fighters by the score of 3-0.

The goals for the Belize Defence Force FC were scored by Jarren Lambey in the 5th and 64th minutes of play and Shane Flores in the 90th minute of play.

And in the final game of the day at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, Police United FC won over the Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 4-2.

The Police United FC was the first onto the scoreboard when Amin August scored the 1st goal of the game in the 5th minute of play to give his team an early lead.  Rollin Burgess scored the equalising goal for the Placencia Assassins FC in the 14th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. However, Danny Jimenez untied the score at 2-1 when he scored his first of two goals in the 31st minute of play.

The first half of the game ended 2-1 in favour of the visiting Police United FC.

The Police United FC lead was extended in the second half of the game when Danny Jimenez scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 63rd minute of play to give his team a 3-1 lead. The Placencia Assassins FC was able to cut the deficit when Luis Torres scored his goal in the 72nd minute of play to bring the score at 3-2. The final goal of the game for the Police United FC was scored by Devon Makin in the 73rd minute of play to give his team the 4-2 victory.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with four games on the schedule.
