Two men were injured in a broad daylight shooting in San Pedro Town. One of the victims, 18 year-old Christian Contreras, died on the scene after he was gunned down.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, in the Boca Del Rio area. They were on a side street heading unto Laguna Drive. That’s where Contreras and 28 year-old Ryan Lucas were walking when they were approached by 2 young men. The San Pedro Sun Newspaper reports that witnesses heard an exchange between the two pairs of men.

Those witnesses reportedly heard the shooter ask both men, “So, are you the guys from the Doritos Gangs?”

He immediately pulled out his weapon, and he opened fire on both men, in plain view of persons walking by. In the spray of gunfire, Contreras was injured to the chest, the lower back, and the right upper arm, and he collapsed right where he was shot. He passed away on the street. Lucas was injured to the right upper arm and abdomen, and he was rushed to the San Pedro Poly Clinic, and he was then airlifted to the KHMH for further treatment.

Police have no reason to believe that these 2 victims have anything to do with the recent crime spike on San Pedro. They were not victims of the conflict over drugs that has been ongoing in the last few months.

Residents tell the press that this spike in crime has caused the islanders to be a bit more concerned about safety. They are avoiding being out on the streets more and more, and it is affecting business owners as a result.

The cops have charged a 17 year old with the crime of murder of Christian Contreras.
