Belmopan. October 3, 2017.

The Ministry of Health informs the general public that effective November 1st, 2017, all pharmaceutical facilities will be required to have a Ministry of Health Certificate of Registration License in order to provide pharmacy services to the public.

While our records reflect a total of 23 pharmaceutical importers/wholesalers and 37 retail pharmacies in possession of a valid Ministry of Health facility license, we are aware of approximately 50 wholesalers and 120 retail pharmacies countrywide. These licensed facilities have met the necessary requirements and standards outlined by the Ministry of Health taking into consideration the Statutory Instrument of the Food and Drugs Regulations, 2017.

We, therefore, invite all Pharmaceutical facilities that have not applied for a facility license to please do so. The Ministry also informs the public that the moratorium on new pharmaceutical companies and new pharmaceutical products will be lifted effective November 1st, 2017.

The list of pharmaceutical facilities that hold a Ministry of Health license will be published on the Ministry of Health website on November 1st, 2017 in an effort to empower the general public as we aim to inform our population in a transparent manner.

The Ministry of Health is working towards enhancing the pharmaceutical services being provided in the country and above all protect and safeguard the health of all Belizeans.

Additional information on the Statutory Instrument No. 54 of 2017 of the Food and Drug Regulations, 2017 is available on the Ministry of Health website. www.health.gov.bz
