Today the Belmopan Police awarded seven of its officers that did well during the month of September. On hand to do the presentations was Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie.

These outstanding officers from the Belmopan Police jurisdiction are Alexander Shal (number 1414), Porfilo Carillo (number 230), Gaina Hyde (number 2234), Roberto Ical (number 557), Javier Alvarez (number 743), Miguel Martinez and Danny Mesh (number 276).

These police officers received certificates and a monetary donation within the spacious Scotchie Restaurant in Belmopan.

Police Officer Martinez stands out at the Roaring Creek Police station which is also within the jurisdiction of Belmopan Police, where he has had a “dent” on crime in that area according to his commander Howell Gillett. Gaina Hyde is also an “exemplary woman police officer” explained Gillett.

In his message to the seven police officers this morning, Commissioner of Police Whylie said that these officers were doing well not because they were being instructed to do so but  “…because [they are]  citizens of Belize.” He explained that the over 2000 strong Belize Police Department is a professional organization and appealed to all law abiding citizens across Belize to work with the Police.

“We police in Belize in a Democracy with the consent of the people,” he said.

The Belmopan Police jurisdiction consists of 130 police officers and over the last few weeks have been able to solve some criminal cases with a precision.
