St. Ignatius and St. Martin De Porres boys lead in primary schools basketball competition Print E-mail

The Belize City Primary Schools Basketball competition opened on Monday 25th September, 2017, at the Gateway Youth Centre in Belize City.

There are 12 schools competing in the Boys’ competition and 3 schools in the Girls’ competition. The schools in the girls’ competition are Central Christian School, Muslim Community School and St. Joseph Primary School. Meanwhile, the schools in the boys’ competition are St. Ignatius School, Belize Elementary School, Queen Square Anglican School, Muslim Community School, Central Christian School, Wesley Upper School, St. Martin De Porres School, St. Joseph Primary School, St. John Vianney School, Bethel Primary School and Ephesus SDA School.

On Wednesday 4th October, in the game played in the boys’ competition, Belize Elementary School defeated Wesley Upper School by the score of 40-14. The top scorers for Belize Elementary School were Malcolm Murillo and Maddox Heusner with 10 points. Meanwhile, the top scorer for Wesley Upper School was Kamron Gentle with 6 points.

On Tuesday 3rd October, in the first of two games played in the boys’ competition, St. Martin De Porres School defeated Bethel Primary School by the score of 64-3. The top scorer for St. Martin De Porres School was Delhart Dominguez with 24 points and the top scorer for Bethel Primary School was Taylon Jones with 3 points.

In the second game of the day, St. Ignatius School defeated Queen Square Anglican School by the score of 44-12. The top scorer for St. Ignatius School was Kyle Castillo with 23 points while the top scorer for Queen Square Anglican School was Lewis Matthews with 7 points.

And on Thursday 28th September, in the first game in the boys’ competition, St. Martin De Porres School won over All Saints Anglican School by the score of 32-14. The top scorer for St. Martin De Porres School was Anver Fuentes with 10 points. For All Saints Anglican School, the top scorer was Harlem Noralez with 10 points.

In the only game played in the girls’ competition, St. Joseph Primary School defeated Muslim Community School by the score of 26-0. The top scorer for St. Joseph Primary School was Briah Clarke with 20 points.

And in the final game of the day, which was the second game in the boys’ competition, St. Joseph Primary School defeated Bethel Primary School by the score of 60-2. The top scorer for St. Joseph Primary School was Zidane Colon with 25 points. Meanwhile, the top scorer for Bethel Primary School was Gaylon Jones with 2 points.

The competition will continue this coming Friday 6th October, at Gateway Youth Centre with two more games in the boys’ competition. In the first game scheduled for 1:15 pm St. John Vianney School will go up against Bethel Primary School and in the second game of the day it will be Central Christian School see action against Queen Square Anglican School.
