On October 14, 2017 at 8:15 p.m., police visited the ER at the KHMH where they saw Kirkland Michael Dawson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right thigh. Dawson, a 31-year-old electrician and resident of Euphrates Avenue, was socializing with friends on Curassow Street in Belize City when he heard several gunshots being fired. He felt a burning sensation in his right thigh and realized that he has been shot.

Police once again visited the KHMH on October 15, 2017 at 3:30 a.m. This time, they saw 21-year-old Tyrin Faber, an unemployed Belizean of Fabers Road, suffering from a gunshot wounds to the left side of the chest and the left forearm. Initial investigation revealed that earlier that morning, an altercation occurred inside Club Elite which resulted in two groups being escorted outside of the club. Glenford Brown, a 33-year-old security who was on duty at the time, fired a single shot on the pavement in an effort to disperse the crowd. As a result, Faber received the aforementioned injuries.
