Albert Cattouse was killed in his taxi on Thursday of last week and since his death some activists have said that his killing was motivated because he was an activist.

On Wednesday, during a press conference, PM Dean Barrow stated that nothing could be further from the truth. He noted that Cattouse was an acquaintance of his and they were always cordial with one another whenever they met. He went on to state that the police’s investigations show that what happened was “completely at odds from any notion that this was a political hit. I am willing to bet my life that no UDP personality in the leadership of this party would ever do something like that.”

He went on to state that it appears that someone caught his taxi took him to a neighborhood where two other persons were picked up and was then told that he needed to go to a particular area. When Cattouse realized that a crime was about to be committed he refused to go any further and he told the men to get out of his vehicle, stopped and as they exited one of them shot him to the head.
