For the third year in a row, the adventuring teachers and students from the Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic High School OLOGHS in Belmopan have pounded the asphalt from Belmopan to San Ignacio for a worthy cause. First to reach San Ignacio on Saturday morning was Jamel Webster, 25 years of age, and by the time he was at the finishing line his tennis shoe had worn out. At the ready to assist Webster and other runners was a team from the Red Cross ; with the Traffic Department also keeping a careful watch for their safety.

Organizer of the Belmopan to Cayo Health and Fun Run Emil Pulido would like to thank the Belmopan Red Cross Team and the Saint John’s Credit Union for their support. Mayor of Belmopan Khalid Belisle had donated medals for participants of the run. According to Pulido, the funds raised from this fun run will be used towards a much needed students’ eating shed.

For Earl Trapp Junior,  who is the Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town, this was also the third time he has participated and for good reasons.

“We can be here today looking perfect, but we don’t know what is wrong with us inside, so today it’s our time to support a worthy cause and of course to continue to send a positive message to the people out there, if we as leaders can do it then the residents out there will look at us and say I can do it as well,” he said.
