Residents and visitors in Belmopan were taken aback this week as workers labored arduously to install a new feature to the roundabout that is near the Belmopan Hospital. Having been completed a few months ago, the roundabout was adopted by Print Belize who has pledged to maintain it.

This week in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy, who donated a sculpture of an Olmec head in honor of the visit of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, the sculpture was installed. The donation is a gesture of continued friendship between Mexico and Belize and the Belmopan City Council which has responsibility for the roundabout.

Editor’s note (The Olmecs also known as Xi People were an ancient people who inhabited parts of Mexico and South America. Studies have determined that these people originally came from West Africa and were of the Mende African ethnic stock.
