Last Thursday, Belmopan Police commenced a much needed feeding program at the San Martin Government Primary school in the Nation’s Capital. This will see some 25 children being fed a nutritious breakfast daily. A release from the Belmopan Police has thanked the staff, parents and the Mira family for supporting this initiative.

In a statement from the St. Martin’s Government School it states that:

Good things are happening at St. Martin’s Government School this school year. Our first day of our feeding program made possible with the collaboration of the Belmopan Police Department and Mr. Howell Gillett.

Superintendent Howell Gillett is the Officer in Charge of Belmopan Police and has been working arduously over the last few years to bring better nutrition to children from his jurisdiction.

Two weeks ago, Belmopan Police had been able to get assistance from Taiwanese Ambassador His Excellency Charles Liu of $5,000.00. St. Martin’s Government School, Garden City Primary and the Methodist High will be assisted with their gardens in schools initiative. It is hoped that the garden school efforts will complement their feeding programs.
