In Belmopan on Tuesday, October 31, Belize’s Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management, Hon. Edmond Castro, in the presence of Mexico’s Ambassador to Belize, H. E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on International Motor Carrier, Passenger and Freight Transportation between the Government of Belize and the Government of the United Mexican States.

The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed on behalf of Mexico by Federal Motor Carrier General Director, Licenciado Adolfo Elim Luviano Heredia.

Discussions on the Memorandum of Understanding commenced in February of this year when Hon. Castro and Ambassador Quesnel Melendez held an initial meeting in Belmopan. That was followed up by another meeting with executives and technical staff from both governments.

Accompanying Hon. Edmond Castro at that meeting at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management Ruth Meighan.
