On Saturday December 2nd the Football Federation of Belize will seek to have an election where a new president and vice president are expected to be elected. Running for president are Ruperto Vicente, Sergio Chuc, Onan Mclean and Daniel Fabro. Running for Vice President are Cruz Gamez, David Griffith, Carlos Galvez and Leslie Sharp.

The favorite for Saturday’s election is Sergio Chuc who received endorsement by Bandits team owner, Hon. John Saldivar who told the press “I am endorsing Sergio Chuc for president and I have stated that publicly and I believe that those that are involved in football and know what is happening in the family of football will know that Sergio Chuc is the best man for football.”

The football family has been embroiled in controversy to select a new president and in June of this year the acting president, Marlon Kuylen and his executive tried twice on June 24 and also on Sunday to hold an election for president but that was unsuccessful as all congress members were not present. Those members boycotted the congress in support of Sergio Chuc who claimed to have been unfairly disqualified from running for the presidency by the FFB Electoral Committee and the Appeals Committee on baseless allegations of bribery.

The elections will see those who win serve a four year term.
