This week we look at some sound advice that the Apostle Paul gave to young Pastor Timothy, his spiritual son. In Second Timothy, chapter 2, verse 15, we read: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Paul exhorts Timothy to do his best. Timothy must consistently and happily carry out the work our God Yahweh has given him to do. One way to do this is to make sure he is rightly handling scripture. This is in contrast with the meaningless disputes the false teachers engage in. These words of Paul come alive as they speak to all of us today!

Every scripture in the Bible is subject to interpretation, in order to extract the specific word of God to change our lives. The right understanding sets people free from the bad habits which are ruining our lives. Sadly the wrong interpretation leads people down the road of bondage to wrong behaviors. This opens the door for our enemy, Satan the devil, to come in to steal, kill and destroy.

One major deception which is being circulated is people using the Bible to justify the evil things they do. They take it a step further by forcing everyone else to accept and approve or tolerate their behavior.

However the bible clearly states that God loves the sinner but hates their sins. This should also be our attitude towards sinners. We must not accept their behavior as being right, but encourage them that with God they can stop it completely.

We must recognize that, as soon as we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are no longer sinners, but it is only when we make Jesus Christ our Lord that we can work with the Holy Spirit to change our behavior. This is what pleases God and keeps us in close fellowship with Him.

It is my passion to help believers to study the Bible deeply, as it shows the way to fulfillment, and a happy and prosperous life, despite what is happening around us!
