On Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at around 9:45 p.m., police acted on information received of a road traffic Accident between Miles 1 & 2 on George Price Drive in Dangriga Town. They visited the scene and upon arrival, they observed a bicycle and a Meilun motorcycle on the right hand side of the road. The rear wheel of the bicycle was damaged while the front wheel of the motorcycle was damaged. Police also saw a male person lying face up next to the motorcycle.

Initial investigation revealed that Alexander Zuniga, a 41-year-old Belizean laborer of Monument Area, Dangriga Town, was on the right hand side of the road sitting on his bicycle and Delone Castillo, a 27-year-old Belizean of Hopkins Village, was crossing the road when they were both hit by the motorcycle that was being driven by Brandon Kerr, a 34-year-old Belizean of Sarawee Village.

All three person sustained injuries and were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital. Zuniga was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and on Thursday, November 23, 2017, he succumbed to his injuries. Kerr and Castillo were admitted to ward in a stable condition. Police investigation into this matter continues.
