Victor Pou, a 21 year-old Independence Village resident, was stabbed to death in his Stann Creek community, and unfortunately he is the third murder victim for the weekend before Christmas.

His family tells the press that he left his house at around 10 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, and he was heading to his workplace. He works as a night watchman for a business place in the village, but he never made it because unknown assailants cornered him and stabbed him to death. Reports are that he was seen in some sort of fight struggling with 2 other men. Residents tell the press that this very same area has been the location of choice for other such attacks because there is poor lighting at night, and minimal police presence.

According to police, his body was found near the BTL tower the next morning at around 6 a.m. It is unsure what happened, but several personal belongings are missing at this time. They say that they have detained 3 persons for questioning.

Pou’s murder comes as a shock to his friends and family because he reportedly lived a very humble lifestyle. He was a member of the church, and he worked hard on his job to pay for his own education. He is a student of Independence Junior college, and he would have graduated with his associate’s degree in accounting next year in May. His family tells the press that he spent his time between school, church and his home.

They are demanding justice, and they are hoping that the police catch these killers. The men in detention are believed to have been on a robbery spree. Reports to the press are that they are originally from Belize City. None of them have been charged with murder, but one of the suspects have been charged for a robbery that happened earlier that Saturday night.
