Belize picks up 12 medals in the Central American Games Print E-mail

The XI Central American Games is now history. The games concluded on Sunday 17th December, 2017, with the Closing Ceremony at the National Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua.

At the end of the 14 days of festival, Belize captured a total of 12 medals at the Games.

The medal count for Belize includes to 2 Gold Medal in Body Building (not an Olympic sport) by Clayton Greenidge. Greenidge’s gold came in the Master’s Competition and in the Light-heavyweight 80 kilogrammes category. He was joined by his team-mate Oyinkro Akpobodor who picked up a bronze medal in his category.

Leon Guild picked up a bronze medal in Karate in the under 84 kilogrammes Kumite category.

Other bronze medallists include the men’s basketball team, Tricia Flores in Long Jump, women’s 4 x100m relay team, and the women’s 4 x 400m relay team.

Meanwhile, the silver medallists include Brandon Jones in Triple Jump, Katy Sealy in Heptathlon, and Samantha Dirks in the 200m event and the men’s 4 x100m relay team.

We extend congratulations to all the athletes that represented the country at the XI Central American Games.
