Work officially started on Wednesday January 3 for the upgrading of 13 streets in Punta Gorda town. The contract was officially signed the day before between the Ministry of Works’ Chief Engineer, Lennox Bradley and Contractor Brian Holland of Belize Minerals.

The work is the second phase of work in the municipality which had previously upgraded 10 streets starting in September of last year.

Deputy Mayor, Ashton McKenzie, told the Guardian that the work will see the investment of $204,930 dollars in 16 streets across the municipality. With these streets it will bring the total to 26 streets that would have been upgraded in the town of Punta Gorda. All told there would be a total investment of 300 thousand dollars in streets in the town.

Deputy Mayor McKenzie will be running as the mayoral candidate for the UDP in the upcoming municipal elections.
