The life of a Corozal man, Alejandro Yam, was almost taken in the wee hours of New Year’s Day. Around 2:30 a.m. on January 1, 2018, Yam was chopped in Louisville, Corozal.

According to ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigations Branch, Yam reported that while walking in the village, he was attacked by a group of male persons. One of those men inflicted a chop to the lower back. In an attempt to defend himself, Yam inflicted a stab wound to one of the assailants.

Yam, as well as Eric Cob who he stabbed, are recovering in separate hospitals.
