William Godoy, a 33-year-old resident of San Pedro, has been formally arrested and charged for the murder of 26-year-old Alfredo Cowo. Cowo was murdered as he sat in a golf cart in Central Park, San Pedro with his pregnant girlfriend. A barrage of shots rang out in the direction but the one bullet that did make contact with the right side of Cowo’s chest was enough to fatally injure him.

Cowo and his girlfriend were approached by a lone gunman, who police now say is William Godoy. Although Godoy’s family claims to have an alibi for him at the time of the murder, the police say that the evidence against him is just as strong. According to ASP Alejandro Cowo, the police have not yet been able to establish a motive but suspect that the murder may be a drug deal gone sour.

A week before, Cowo predicted his death. Two officers, officers Darnell Madril and Norman Coye, were on trial for a San Pedro shooting incident, which included Cowo and several others. The case did not go anywhere and the officers were reinstated and as a result, Cowo believed that his life was in danger.

Cowo’s family insists that he and Godoy were good friends but according to ASP Alejandro Cowo, the police has to go on what evidence in on hand and by what eyewitnesses are saying.
