Verdes FC blank Freedom Fighters FC in Premier League Competition Print E-mail

The Premier League of Belize Closing Season continued over the last week of play with four games played across the country.

On Sunday 21st January, 2018, at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda Town, the defending champions and the leader in this year’s Closing Season Verdes FC blanked the host team Freedom Fighters FC by the score of 3-0.

Verdes FC got on the scoreboard when Krisean Lopez scored the 1st goal of the game for his team in the 20th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.

The Verdes FC lead was further extended when Krisean Lopez scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 52nd minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead. The score became 3-0 when Jaret Davis scored his goal in the 68th minute of play.

At the end of the game, it was a 3-0 victory for the defending champions.

Meanwhile, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, the visiting Belize Defence Force FC won over the host team Wagiya FC by the score of 2-0.

The Belize Defence Force FC made it onto the scoreboard when Trimayne Harris scored his 1st goal of the game in the 42nd minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.

The lead was further extended in the second half of the game when Trimayne Harris scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 85th minute of play for the 2-0 victory.

While at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, Police United FC and the visiting Placencia Assassins FC played to a 3-3 draw.

The host team Police United FC was the first onto the scoreboard when Trevor Lennon scored the 1st goal of the game in the 9th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The visiting Placencia Assassins FC replied with a goal of its own when Luis Torres who scored all 3 goals for his team, scored the equalising goal in the 30th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. However, that was short lived as Camilo Sanchez scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game in the 32nd minute of play to untie the score at 2-1 in favour of the Police United. The game was once again tied at 2-2 when Luis Torres scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 41st minute of play.

The Police United FC took the lead once again in the second half of the game when Rodrigo Sanchez scored his goal in the 65th minute of play via a penalty kick to give his team a 3-2 lead.

The Placencia Assassins FC once again tie the score at 3-3 when Luis Torres scored his 3rd and final goal of the game in the 87th minute of play via a penalty kick.

And on Saturday 20th January, 2018, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the Belmopan Bandits defeated the San Pedro Pirates FC by the score of 3-1.

The host team Belmopan Bandits was the first onto the scoreboard when Rony Sanchez scored the 1st goal of the game in the 24th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. However, the score was tied at 1-1 when Inri Gonzaga scored the equalising goal in the 31st minute of play for the visiting San Pedro Pirates.

In the second half of the game, the Belmopan Bandits scored two more times when Hector Martinez his goal in the 51st minute of play to give his team a 2-1 lead. The final goal of the game was scored by Elroy Smith in the 69th minute of play to give his team the 3-1 victory.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games on the schedule.
