Police officers were called to a residence on Thurton Street just after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 where they observed the motionless body of a male person. The body was identified as 38-year-old Jermaine Curtis Hyde, an employee at the old bus terminal and resident of Hattieville. Hyde’s body was seen with one single apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Initial investigation revealed that Hyde was leaving a tacos stand near the Swing Bridge going in the direction of Thurton Street when he was approached by a single unknown male person. That person fired a single shot which fatally injured Hyde. He was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead. The body now awaits a post mortem examination.

Thus far, there is no motive or suspect in the case. According to ASP Alejandro Cowo, there is no evidence to suggest that Hyde was involved in any gang or illegal activity and he was not known to the police. Surveillance footage has since been gathered and police investigations continue into this matter.
