Two Belize City men were before the court on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 to answer to charges of robbery and wounding after an office assistant was knocked off his motorcycle and badly beaten. The attackers have been identified as 30-year-old Nigel Castillo, a resident of Mahogany Street, and 20-year-old Joseph Babb, a resident of Jones Street.

The duo appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where they were arraigned before Magistrate Khadeen Palmer. Before the magistrate, the duo was charged jointly with one count of robbery and one count of wounding.

The allegation against the duo is that they stole from 21-year-old Kadeem Vaughan, an office assistant. Vaughan was heading home on his motorcycle at around 3:00 a.m. and while at the intersection of Alicia Street and Brown Street, he was punched off his motorcycle. After falling to the ground, the attackers repeatedly kicked Vaughn. They stole his wallet, cell phone, and other personal identification items, all to a total of $2,847. Vaughn sustained injuries to the face and body and suffered a blood clot in one of his eyes.

The duo was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until their next court date.
