ROC (Taiwan) grants US$500,000 to Belize as part of Security Cooperation Print E-mail

A 0,000 US grant was handed over to Belize from the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Laing Building. The grant was given to support the ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening the Belize Police Department, part of the Security Cooperation between the two countries who have established diplomatic relations almost 30 years ago.

The monies will be used for the purchase of equipment and law enforcement technologies such as but not limited to bullet proof vests and motorcycles. At the ceremony, Hon. Elodio Aragon Jr., Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, conveyed the government’s gratitude for the support.

Hon. Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, received the cheque on behalf of the Government of Belize while H.E. Charles K. Y. Lui, Ambassador, ROC (Taiwan) represented the Government of the ROC (Taiwan).
